Chris finished his class at the Presidio of Monterey's Defense Language Institute (DLI) and we are parting ways with Monterey, California. As it is with every move, this is once again bittersweet. We moved to Monterey in June 2012, and Jake was only 8 weeks old. In this duplex-house, he learned to crawl, walk, talk, run, and jump! He's grown so much here in the past 20 months so it will be sad to say goodbye to his first home. We are also leaving behind a great neighborhood with some wonderful friends, who I'm sure we'll cross paths with again one day. But by far the saddest part is leaving Atticus behind. He was a wonderful member of our family and he will be missed dearly.
But today begins our next adventure. We are headed to Amman, Jordan, but have a quick stop in Huntsville, AL, along the way. We'll be in Huntsville for about 4 months and that is why we only get to pack up 600 pounds of household goods. The remainder of our stuff will either get put into long-term storage or shipped to us in Jordan.
As I'm waiting for the movers to arrive, sometime between 11 A.M. and 4 P.M., I decided to start thinking about our annual Christmas letter. And since we have no forwarding address yet (at least without inundating my in-laws), I decided that I'd create this blog, sometime I was going to do eventually. Now the blog address can go into the Christmas letter for friends and family to enjoy or discard, whichever they choose, and they don't have to worry about trying to send off a return letter or card to us.
We are all excited to begin our new adventure. Chris was successful in learning Arabic, passed all his tests, and is clearing post this week. Later this week, we'll be on our way home to Georgia for Christmas and then on to Huntsville. I'm not sure what I'll fill this blog with during the next 4 months, but the idea is to have it ready when we get to Amman so I don't bombard my Facebook page with pictures, but the pictures will be here for those who want to enjoy them.
So begins the Baldwin Nomad Adventures...it is true that "Home" is where the Army sends us!

I love blogging! I started one last year and it is a great way to keep things documented! We will miss you dearly friend but wish you nothing but the best! I can't wait to see what life has in store for y'all next!
